Anti-corruption: what the 2027-2028 roadmap changes for banks and insurers
Ennouamane Yatim unpacks, for Finances News Hebdo, the 2027-2028 anti-corruption roadmap adopted by Bank Al-Maghrib, ACAPS, AMMC and INPPLC.
For the Financial Services Advisory Partner at Baker Tilly in Morocco, risk mapping “takes anti-corruption from a statement of principle to process-by-process management.” Banks, subject to Bank Al-Maghrib’s directive since May 2023, now have to prove that their systems work: “a risk map whose action plans are not followed up has no effect.” For insurers and capital markets, he sees a comparable binding framework as consistent with the momentum under way, with each authority keeping its own pace.
He also explains what sets anti-corruption apart from anti-money laundering, and what ISO 37001 certification does and does not guarantee: “the standard certifies a management system; it does not attest to the absence of corruption.” Finally, the article shows why the suppliers and service providers of banks and insurers are also concerned.
